Sunny Delight Smoothie with Turmeric & Ginger

Hiya, spring chickies!

While nothing beats a dose of energizing daylight after a dark long winter, this smoothie comes pretty close to liquid sunshine.

Sunny-hued fruits and veggies of the orange/yellow variety all contain potent nutrients like vitamin C, beta carotene, fiber and enzymes to help boost our glow.

Have I mentioned how much I adore avocado in my smoothies? SUCH a smooth buttery texture coupled with a serving of healthy, satiating plant-based fatty acids. Avocado also helps reduce inflammation, thanks to naturally occurringΒ phytosterols (cholesterol-balancing plant compounds) and flavonoids (antioxidants).

Then we have turmeric and ginger. Equally distinct in flavour, their nutrient properties are both anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting. A little goes a long way.

Soak it all up!

Sunny Delight Smoothie

Ingredients (choose organic whenever possible):

1 cup frozen mango, peaches, strawberries (or your choice of bright fruits)
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or purified water)
1/2 avocado
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp freshly grated ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2-3 pitted dates (optional)
Ice, as desired

  1. In a blender, combine nut milk (or water) with fruit and avocado. If using dates, soak them for 5-10 minutes in warm water then drain before blending.
