If you live with Celiac disease, a gluten intolerance and/or have been an avid Whole Foods shopper, you are probably familiar with the trailblazer in gluten-free breads: UDI’s. After spending at least $7 CAD on a range of mediocre gluten-free breads, I can now confidently assert that Udi’s is the dough winner. With brown rice and potato starch, this fluffy little slice doesn’t even require toasting. My top pick is the Millet & Chia whole grain loaf which fuses crunch and fluff like none other. Bagels, pizza dough and hot dog buns are also on the market. Available at Whole Foods, IGA Marketplace, Nesters and increasingly found in generic grocery stores across North America. $6.99 CAD per loaf. Based in Denver, CO. Good things come in small loaves.
